PETRINJA, Croatia --- In the "Colonel Predrag Matanović" barracks in Petrinja on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, a test and demonstration of the integration and use of the Vegvisir situational awareness system was held on the Patria armored combat vehicle in operational use by the Guards Mechanized Brigade of the Croatian Army.

With the support of the Croatian Army, the presentation was organized by Croatian and Estonian companies that jointly develop the Vegvisir system.

The demonstration was divided into a theoretical part with a presentation and a field part in which BOV Patria was equipped with components of the Vegvisir system, including cameras, sensors and a mission computer.

On this occasion, Minister Banožić said that today's testing and demonstration proves the extremely high level of training of Croatian soldiers who, he says, are ready to use the most advanced technologies on the military industry market.

"Everything we have seen testifies that a clear direction of development has been determined for the Croatian army and its members; a direction that implies constant development, improvement and modernization of its capabilities", said the Minister of Defense and added that the Croatian Army is truly ready to handle all the tasks that are set before it.

Namely, among the basic goals of system development are better situational awareness, making the best decisions, faster response to threats and greater safety of the BOV crew.

According to the manufacturer's description, the mentioned systems in combination with the so-called HMD (Head/Helmet Mounted Display) glasses, among other things, provide the BOV driver with situational awareness, i.e. "view through the vehicle" in a full circle of 360 degrees, as well as immediate insight into data such as the position of one's own vehicle or the location of friendly and enemy units.

The Vegvisir system is still in the prototype development stage, and was tested by the Estonian Armed Forces on their armored vehicles before the HKov.

In addition to representatives of the company and the organizational units of the HKoV, the demonstration was attended by the Minister of Defense Marija Banožić and his colleagues, as well as the Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the People's Republic of Croatia, Colonel-General Siniša Jurković, Commander of the Croatian Army, Colonel-General Boris Šerić, company representatives and others.
