Afghanistan: "Tactical Air Controllers" for the Afghan Army

The first Tactical Air Controllers of the Afghan Army have concluded the training course conducted by the Italian instructors of TAAC-West (Train, Advice and Assist Command) in Herat.

The “Afghan Tactical Air Control - ATAC -Trainers' Course” was attended by servicemen from the 3 Brigades of the 207th Armed Corps. They have been awarded their certificate which qualifies them as trainers in attack aircraft control techniques.

The 2-week training course was aimed at qualifying officers and non-commissioned officers from the Afghan Army (ANA) in view of the delivery of new A-29 Super Tucano aircraft.

Italy is currently engaged in Afghanistan within the framework of Mission Resolute Support. Our military implement assistance, advice and training tasks.
