A Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force destroyer and a Chinese fishing boat have collided in the East China Sea.
Japanese Defense Ministry sources said the incident occurred in high seas, about 650 kilometers west of Yakushima Island in Kagoshima Prefecture on Monday night.
The sources said no one aboard the destroyer Shimakaze suffered injuries. They also said the 13 crew members of the fishing boat appear to be unharmed.
The destroyer reportedly sustained a one-meter hole in its portside, but it is still capable of sailing.
The ministry is gathering information about the incident.
