FMV has signed a cooperation agreement with the logistics department of the Finnish Armed Forces regarding the procurement of vehicle systems.

"This means that the countries can jointly carry out various procurements in a wide area, from vehicle-borne artillery and combat vehicles to light wheeled vehicles," says Micael Berner Ågren, head of department wheeled vehicles, CBRN and home defence, FMV Armémateriel.

The collaboration enables joint procurement of mobile systems and related technologies between Finland and Sweden. The systems that can be procured include tactical all-terrain vehicles, armored and other all-terrain vehicles, light vehicles, snowmobiles, mobile howitzers and artillery systems, main battle tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, mobile grenade launchers and systems, armored and other tactical vehicles, and military trucks. Other countries within Nordefco may be invited to join this collaboration.

It is also possible to create common training and maintenance systems for the systems acquired through possible joint procurement, which further improves security of supply. Increased joint procurement volumes will also reduce the national procurement costs for Finland and Sweden.

"With the signing of this agreement, we have further strengthened the cooperation with Finland and demonstrated the possibilities of joint procurement within vehicle systems and mobile platforms," says Jonas Lotsne, head of the Army Materiel FMV business area.

The first step in this work will be the joint procurement of a heavy, shrapnel-protected all-terrain vehicle. The acquisition includes various vehicle variants, including troop transport, CBRN and command vehicles.
