Boran 105mm Air Portable Light Towed Howitzer Enters TAF Inventory

The first shipment of the Boran 105 mm air-transportable light towed howitzer, designed and developed to support TAF's internal security and air operations, is now being delivered.

Designed and developed by MKE engineers in line with the demands of the TAF, Boran successfully passed 24 tests in international standards.


The first batch of Boran towed howitzers comprises 7 guns. No information has been released regarding the size of the total order. (Turkish MoD video)

Developed to strengthen the hand of the TAF in operations carried out in difficult terrain conditions, Boran can be transported by air and land, weighs 1,780 kilograms, and can be transported to the desired terrain in a short time and can be ready to fire in one minute.

Boran, which has a fire control system and 360-degree firing capability by day and night, can operate in weather conditions ranging from -32°C to +44°C. Boran has an effective range of 17 kilometers and can fire 6 shots per minute.

Boran will now be one of the important weapon systems in the inventory of the Turkish Armed Forces.
