Another stage of the proving ground tests of the "Pechora-2M" Air Defence Missile System (known as the S-125 system) has been successfully completed. The System has been modernized by the Russian-Byelorussian International Financial-Industrial Group "Oboronitelnye Sistemy" (Defence Systems).
During the firing, which has been conducted in the presence and under the supervision of the representatives from the Ministry of Defence of Russia, Federal State Unitary Enterprise (FSUE) "Rosoboronexport" and of the delegations from a number of foreign states, the declared tactical and technical characteristics have been confirmed once again.
The S-125 Air Defence Missile System, which has proven its reliability and effectiveness, is still adopted by the armies of many countries in the world (according to some estimates, there are about 400 pieces of such Air Defence Missile Systems).
FSUE "Rosoboronexport" and the International Financial-Industrial Group "Oboronitelnye Sistemy" have won the international Tender, invited by one of the Middle East countries for the modernization of the S-125 Air Defence Missile System up to the "2M" level. The "Pechora" modification, which is being presented, has been created in accordance with the latest technologies, on the modern electronic basis and is highly reliable; the missile itself has undergone the modernization as well.
The modernization of the "Pechora" Air Defence Missile System up to the "Pechora-2M" level is an important export programme of FSUE "Rosoboronexport" and the International Financial-Industrial Group "Oboronitelnye Sistemy". The Project is being implemented by the International Financial-Industrial Group "Oboronitelnye Sistemy" on the account of its own funds without attracting the budget allocations. Cooperation in the creation of the "Pechora-2M" Air Defence Missile System envelopes 27 enterprises, including the three Byelorus enterprises as well.
The "Pechora-2M" Programme is highly-competitive in the international market. Thus, for instance, the C-125SCE modernization option - the Poland's own offered option - has failed at the international Tender, which has been won by FSUE "Rosoboronexport" and the International Financial-Industrial Group "Oboronitelnye Sistemy". The "Pechora-2M" is superior in its all characteristics as compared to its foreign competitor.
The results of the tests of the "Pechora-2M", which have been conducted, are the evidence of the high potential of the national defence complex in the sphere of the modernization of armaments and military equipment and allow to hope for the good export prospects of this System.
