ISLAMABAD --- Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) is in negotiations with Pakistan's Air Force over an upgrade for the latter's F-16 fleet. The talks revolve around 74 F-16s, including a batch of 14 that Pakistan will receive from Jordan.
It is unclear what upgrades will be conducted, though Defense News reported that the price could be as much as $100 million.
Any agreement will need U.S. permission to move forward. Previously, TAI negotiated to upgrade 41 Pakistani F-16s, after Islamabad was unable to receive American permission to do the upgrade work locally. Turkish officials, cited by Defense News, have reported they expect the current negotiations to be similar to that agreement.
