MOSCOW --- Russian Helicopters, part of State Corporation Rostec, will take part in the 11th Aero India - 2017 international exhibition, which will take place February 14-18 in Bangalore, India.
This year, Russian Helicopters’ key exhibit in India will be the Ka-226T model. Last October, Russian Helicopters, Rosoboronexport and HAL Corporation created a joint venture to localize production of the light, multirole Ka-226Ts and to deliver them to the Indian market. The JV resulted from an intergovernmental agreement between the two countries. In addition to the assembly, it provides terms for maintenance, operation, repairs and maintenance of these helicopters.
"India has traditionally been considered a special strategic partner of ours. More than 400 helicopters produced in Russia are registered and operated here. This year we are exhibiting promising models that we can offer to our foreign colleagues. We hope that participation in this air show will allow us to strengthen our position in the region and reinforce the strong demand for our the products in the short and medium term," – said Russian Helicopters CEO Andrey Boginsky.
The light multirole Ka-226T helicopter with a coaxial main rotor system has a maximum takeoff weight of 3.6 tons and can carry up to 1 ton payload. Its main distinguishing feature is modular design. A passenger cabin can be easily installed, which allows to carry up to 6 people or modules equipped with special equipment. The helicopter is easy to operate, boasts incredibly precise hovering, has excellent maneuverability and handling, easy to maintain, has large power capacity and features maximum safety.
In addition, visitors will be shown a multi-purpose Mi-38 in the passenger version. The Mi-38 is one of the most highly automated civil helicopters in the world. Its flight and navigation systems allow to engage auto pilot, land, hover, and stabilize the helicopter in any flight mode. Mi-38’s IBKO-38 integrated set of on-board equipment provides information to the crew in such volume and quality that it guarantees high level of safety.
Due to the technical solutions used in the Mi-38, it is superior to other helicopters in its class in terms of payload, passenger capacity and basic flight characteristics. The helicopter can be used in a wide range of climatic conditions, including marine, tropical and cold climates. Currently, Russian Helicopters are working to increase take-off weight of the Mi-38-2 and to expand its flight ceiling. In addition, this helicopter will be tested with an attached cargo jib and an external sling. It will also undergo tests at heliports covered with dust, sand and snow.
A presentation of the light multirole Ansat helicopter is also scheduled, which will surely be of interest to potential customers. Currently, Ansats in the training variant are operated by the Russian Aerospace Forces, and have proven well for initial flight training for military pilots. The number of Ansat-U helicopters in the Russian armed forces is 40 units.
Besides these presentations, particular attention will be paid to the new after-sales service concept for foreign customers. As part of these services, Russian Helicopters is actively developing a "one window" format in India, which is aimed at building strategic relationships with helicopter operators and implies non-tender based, long-term agreements and transition to a service format extending to the complete helicopter life cycle.
Russian Helicopters has been participating in Aero India expos since 2009. The show participants can expect a busy program as Russian Helicopters representatives will hold a series of meetings and negotiations with foreign partners to strengthen cooperation with the countries of South and South-East Asia.
