VN Attends Langkawi Maritime Exhibition

VGP - Vietnamese frigate Dinh Tien Hoang (HQ-011) will participate in the Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) 2017 for the first time at Langkawi Resort World, Malaysia from March 21-26.

The People’s Army Newspaper was quoted as saying that the move would demonstrate the consistent determination and viewpoint of the Party, State, and Army in international integration and cooperation; contributing to ensuring maritime security and safety in the region and the world.

The journey would also present the goodwill to cement and deepen ties with the Malaysian Army and Navy Forces in particular and ASEAN’s ones.

Earlier, on the afternoon of March 15, in Cam Ranh, Khanh Hoa province, HQ-011 and 140 military officers led by colonel Nguyen Dinh Hung, deputy commander of the 4th Navy Military Region, set off the journey to LIMA 2017.

As scheduled, the team would participate in a ship parade; an air show; a rescue maneuver; maritime logistics supply; a maritime cultural night and international gastronomy.

The LIMA 2017 Exhibition is the largest show of its kind in the Asian Pacific region. It is strongly supported by industry, senior Government officials, military and civil delegations.

In 2015, the previous exhibition attracted 512 exhibiting companies from 36 countries; 39,684 trade visitors; 377 delegations from 41 nations, including the Ministers of Defense, Chiefs of Defense Forces, Chief of Air Forces, Chiefs of Navy, Chiefs of Army, Chiefs of Police and Chiefs of Coast Guard; 54 warships; 78 aircrafts; and 17 country pavilions.
