Terms of Use

Last updated: May 27 2025
These terms govern every visit to Defense-Aerospace.com. By staying on any page, you accept them in full. If you object to any rule, leave the site right away.

1. Scope of These Terms

  1. These terms form a contract between you (“the user”) and Defense Editions SAS, the owner of Defense-Aerospace.com.
  2. The contract starts the moment you access, browse, or download any content.
  3. If new services add extra rules, those rules become part of this contract once published.

2. Definitions

  • “Content” means every text, graphic, table, code snippet, video, audio clip, data set, or file we publish.
  • “Service” means the public website, its private feeds, newsletters, and any related mobile or API access points.
  • “Personal use” means non-commercial reading, printing, or saving for your own reference.
  • “Commercial use” means any use that earns, or aims to earn, direct or indirect revenue.

3. Copyright and Intellectual Property

  1. All Content is protected under United States and Jefferson City copyright law and global treaties.
  2. Defense Editions owns the collective work: the selection, curation, editing, formatting, and commentary that turn raw sources into the finished package.
  3. Some individual items belong to third parties who licensed material to us. We list those owners when required.
  4. Nothing here transfers any ownership to you. You receive only a limited license described in Sections 4 and 5.

4. License for Personal Use

  1. You may print or store one copy of an article or graphic for reference.
  2. When you forward that copy – only for free and only to friends or colleagues – you must:
    • Keep our credit line: “© Defense-Aerospace.com”.
    • Keep the full URL.
  3. You must not change, shorten, or add to the Content.

5. Uses That Need Written Permission

Before acting, email contact@defense-aerospace.com if you want to:

  • Publish our work in any magazine, report, or book;
    Host our pages inside another site, Intranet, or app;
  • Compile a database using our archives;
  • Translate, adapt, annotate, or mash up our material;
  • Store more than one copy;
  • Charge money for access to our material;
  • Use screenshots, logos, or trademarks.

We reply within ten business days. No answer means no permission.

6. Prohibited Conduct

You must not:

  1. Break, test, or bypass any security measure;
  2. Run spiders, scrapers, or bulk-download tools that hit our servers more than once per second;
  3. Upload viruses, malware, or any code that interferes with the Service;
  4. Misrepresent your identity or affiliation;
  5. Use the site to defame, harass, or threaten others;
  6. Violate export controls, embargoes, or sanctions while using or sharing our data;
  7. Post advertisements, chain letters, or spam in comments or feedback forms.

7. Links to External Sites

  1. We provide outbound links for convenience.
  2. We do not monitor or control those sites.
  3. We accept no duty for their security, privacy rules, or accuracy.
  4. Clicking an external link is at your own risk.

8. User-Generated Content and Comments

  1. If we enable comments, you remain the owner of what you write, but you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free license to display, store, and moderate it.
  2. We may edit, hide, or delete comments that breach Section 6, are off-topic, or add no value.
  3. We reserve the right to suspend or ban any user who posts harmful or unlawful material.

9. Registration and Account Security

  1. Some areas require an account. Provide true, current data and update it when it changes.
  2. Keep your password secret. Every action under your login counts as your action.
  3. Inform us at once if you suspect unauthorized use.
  4. We may suspend or close accounts that:
    • Remain dormant for twelve months;
    • Break these terms;
    • Provide false information.

10. Privacy

  1. We collect only data needed to run the Service – such as log files, cookies, and the details you give at sign-up.
  2. We never sell or trade personal data.
  3. We follow French data-protection law (Loi 78-17 and GDPR).
  4. You may request, correct, or delete your data. Write to contact@defense-aerospace.com.
  5. We use cookies to:
    • Keep you logged in;
    • Measure traffic;
    • Remember display settings.

You can block cookies in your browser. Doing so may limit site features.

11. Security

  1. We use TLS encryption, firewalls, and regular audits.
  2. No system is perfect. We cannot promise absolute security.
  3. If we suffer a breach that affects your data, we will inform you as required by law.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

  1. We provide the Service “as is” and “as available.”
  2. We make no promise that:
    • Content will be error-free or current;
    • The site will run without interruption;
    • Files you download on the external websites (references) are malware-free;
    • The Service will meet your specific needs.
  3. We disclaim all implied warranties, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent allowed by law.

13. Limitation of Liability

  1. Defense Editions is not liable for lost profits, revenue, contracts, goodwill, or data.
  2. We are not liable for indirect, special, incidental, or consequential damages – even if we knew they were possible.
  3. In any event, our total liability is capped at €100 or the amount you paid us in the past six months – whichever is lower.
  4. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limits; if so, the smallest limit the law allows will apply.

14. Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Defense Editions, its directors, and employees against all claims, losses, and costs (including legal fees) that arise from:

  • Your breach of these terms;
  • Your misuse of the Service;
  • Content you submit or share.

15. Force Majeure

We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our control, such as natural disasters, war, strikes, embargoes, power outages, or the actions of network providers.

16. Export and Sanctions Compliance

You must follow all export laws and sanction rules when you share, store, or download Content. The United States, the European Union, and the United Nations may restrict how defense-related data moves across borders. If you export any part of our Content, you bear full responsibility for compliance.

17. Changes to the Service

  1. We may add or remove features, change file formats, or set new access rules without prior notice.
  2. We may limit archiving tools, alter API endpoints, or impose rate caps.
  3. We may shut down the Service temporarily or permanently. We are not liable for any resulting loss.

18. Changes to These Terms

  1. We can revise these terms at any time by posting an updated version with a new date.
  2. Major changes will appear on the home page for at least seven days.
  3. If you continue using the Service after changes take effect, you accept the new terms.

19. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

  1. These terms are governed by Jefferson City law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
  2. The courts of Jefferson City have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes.
  3. You waive any objection to venue or forum based on inconvenience.

20. Entire Agreement

These terms, plus any extra rules for specific services, form the entire agreement between you and Defense Editions. They replace all prior oral or written agreements.

21. No Waiver

If we delay enforcing a right, that delay does not waive the right. A waiver must be in writing and signed.

22. Severability

If a court finds one clause illegal or unenforceable, the rest remain in force. The invalid clause will be replaced by a valid one that comes closest to the original intent.

23. Assignment

You cannot assign or transfer your rights or duties under these terms. We may assign ours if we merge, sell assets, or restructure.

24. Notices

We will send formal notices to the email you registered or post them on the site. You must send notices to contact@defense-aerospace.com and include “LEGAL NOTICE” in the subject line.
